The Best Tasting Fish Oil Ever

Lemon Meringue Fish Oil?
I don’t often find something quite this good, so when it happens, I try and get the word out as fast as I can.
Every once in a while, something comes along that is just too good to be true, or so it seems. In this case, I know this product well so have no problem giving it all the glory it deserves.
But we are getting ahead of ourselves. Do we really need fish oil in the first place? The answer is a resounding YES! Unless you are a Norwegian fisherman dipping into the barrel of oil at the end of the day, you need a a diet that includes lots of small, cold water fish like herring or you need to consider taking a supplement. Fish is a fresher source, but because mercury and other contaminants are a concern, especially for pregnant women, it's important to stay mostly at the low end of the food chain.
While there is some controversy about what is regarded as safe limits, Roger Harms, M.D., a pregnancy specialist at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn., and medical editor of "Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy, listed shrimp, salmon, pollock, crab, tilapia, catfish, and cod as all fairly low in mercury and safe to eat. Canned light tuna was cited as another good choice because it has lower levels of mercury than white albacore or tuna steaks.
Fish and fish oil are excellent sources of omega-3 fatty acids. It is these fatty acids that are thought to reduce inflammation in the body, reduce pain, and they also help lower blood pressure and may reduce your risk of heart attack.
Omega-3 fatty acids play a major role in brain function and fish oil supplements are often used in conjunction with medication to treat severe depression. Fish oil is beneficial for those with bipolar disorder, ADHD, postpartum depression, and even schizophrenia.
Preliminary studies have found fish oil omega-3s promising in the treatment of lupus.
Some drugs administered in the treatment of HIV/AIDS can cause a rise in cholesterol. Fish oil supplements can bring those numbers down.
Fish oil is beneficial for people suffering with CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) and fibromyalgia.
Obviously, anyone with a pre-existing medical condition should see their medical practitioner before starting any sort of treatment with fish oil. It can also interfere with some medications.
In my opinion, this is the best tasting fish oil on the market. I’m not kidding. I wish I had a spoon here and could give you a taste because I’d love to see the incredulous look on your face. It’s fish oil that tastes like lemon meringue pie – not lemon with fish pie. Pure lemon meringue. It’s the kind of product you buy when you’re on a diet and need a sweet treat only this one is actually good for you. Kids love it, too. I can’t say enough about the magicians at Barlean’s who created this fantastic product – Omega Swirl Lemon Zest. It is sugar-free and sweetened with xylitol, a sweetener dentists recommend because it's good for your teeth. It is also guaranteed pure and free of any contaminants. That is the most important feature as far as I'm concerned.
Now I realize this sounds like just some sales pitch, but most of you know me better than that. This is not a sales pitch. It’s a you seriously have to try this and enjoy fish oil heaven statement. This company also makes flax seed oil that tastes like a strawberry smoothie. In taste tests that I've done when working in the retail supplement field, this was the winner with children. It's delicious but a bit sweet for my adult taste. The lemon was the hands-down winner with adults. For vegans, the flax/borage combination in Blueberry Pomegranate was also very popular.
Imagine getting cravings for fish oil! Yes, I really did. It tastes so good you will almost feel guilty!

Well, well, well! I eat lots of salmon and other fish rich in these things, and even sometimes take cod liver oil for its benefits, but a supplement that tastes like lemon meringue pie!! My goodness!! That is simply amazing.
Thank you for an excellent article and recommendation, Alexandra! I will have to go to my Amazon.com account & see about it!
Hugs!
The pie lured me, too, - though I was just pleased to see a new hub by you and tasty fish oil was quite tempting! ;->
wonderful information about fish oil. i take it regularly as a natural way to help joints for arthritis and osteoporosis. thanks for sharing
This is the first time I have ever heard of fish oil that tasted anywhere close to good and that lemon pie looks fab! Thanks for the info!
I cook with Vietnamese fish *sauce* a lot -- does this provide the same types of health benefits? (I've never put it into a lemon pie before . . . I usually reserve it for broths and stir fries and the like . . .)
Hard to believe, Alexandra, that there is a fish oil supplement that tastes GOOD. I get my omega-3 from a capsule but I'm willing to give this lemon meringue pie tasting stuff a shot. Same goes for the strawberry flavored flax seed oil. Thanks for the newsflashes.
Could it be true? I may have to try this. Has anyone ever heard of a nerve in the foot shocking the heck out of a person over and over and over every few seconds? It feels like a live wire connected to the bottom of my foot that keeps firing off. Unbelievable pain. The doc recommended fish oil and I took the capsules, but even 4 a day didn't stop it. Now, someone mentioned Krill oil. Anyone know about that stuff?
Thanks SG. I'm seeing a super duper intelligent nutritionist soon and I will get the exact dose I need hopefully along with whatever other supplement. I think it's some sort of electrolyte imbalance, but for the life of me I can't figure it out. My lab tests are relatively normal. But the inflammation is getting worse and there doesn't seem to be even a name for it. I just hope it's not M.S.
Thank you! Sounds like there is hope for me yet! We truly are what we eat.
Oh, I did try some Essentia water that has a ph of 9.5. Can't say I noticed a difference though. I'm still drinking it. Time will tell.
Ah, Alexandra! -Thank you and it's so good to hear I'll be seeing more of you on HP! I seem to stay so busy here that I have difficulty visiting other sites though yours are exceptional and I will certainly find more time to visit them.
I enjoy extremely good health and yes, salmon is a favorite part of my regular diet, though I'm far from coastal waters, too. There are some good fresh fish markets with fish flown in, but I usually just buy frozen salmon fillets which are individually wrapped and easy to take out just one for myself. Since I'm not cooking for more, that is quite convenient and they are quite tasty. I find them in both Alaskan Sockeye and Atlantic types. They're equally expensive - haha. Since I prefer seasoning them myself, they serve me well.
I love pickled herring and try to eat it regularly as well as other fish! I have never tried fish oil because I have always heard that they taste so bad it is impossible to ingest! So when I saw this hub about best tasting fish oil I had to read it! It is great news and now I may even dare to try fish oil! Very interesting and useful hub! Voted up

I love eating fish, but like everyone else, I worry about the pollutants. Thanks for the good info.
SilverGenes, Thank you for putting this out there. I have dealt with pain and inflamation for years and went to doc after doc and finally gave up on them and learned from herbalist books. I have cut out coffee entirely and switched to irish breakfast tea which is a black tea with some caffeine in it. The caffeine acts as a diuretic without overloading my sensitive system. I am also soda free and drink water all the time. I do drink bottled water with only a few brands I trust because tap here in Utah is horrid and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. I love fish and being from eastern Oregon, I have had the glory of indulging in fresh fish which I catch myself or the schools of fish that are constantly given away. Here in Utah I have no access to my swimmers and I have to rely on transported fish. I feel like the fish (especially salmon) that are frozen in a package are fresher than the fish behind the butcher's counter of glass simply because they are packaged strait from the water and if you can't catch it then this is your next best bet. The fish in the glass has been moved around approximately 30% more than frozen by the time it gets to the consumer. Handling as well as the air itself has made foul mush out of the healthy creatures we are meant naturally to eat. There is a lot of research going into different herbs that contain properties identical to fish oil that perhaps we will one day be able to grow in our garden! Until such a day we make do with what we can. I eat fish however a combination of fish oil and borage! Now that's a winner! Borage is one of our most beneficial plants so combining this with fish oil (which now thanks to you SilverGenes we know quite a bit about) along with blueberries which are literally PACKED with antioxidants and I believe we have a winner! Have you tried the blueberry flavored one SilverGenes? If so how was it? Also for the inflamation, I would try Astragulus tea. You can mix it with a tastier tea like camomile or peppermint. Also try potato water. let some potatoes steep overnight in cool water then drink about a 1/4 cup about 3 times a day. The potato is another wonderful medicine disguised as food or plant. :) I hope you start to feel better. The inflamation is difficult to live with. I gave you a couple ideas that help however eating certain things or going to the grocery store can cause a flair up so living with it is very difficult but just do all you can and start a diet journal and figure out what helps and what hurts then go from there. I hope you feel better. :)

I am glad you found the comment informative. It was not meant as that just a suppliment to your hub but thank you! As for the potato water I apologize that I did not make it clear. This was to add to what you said about our ph levels. This is one of the most important factors in our diets. The potato contains alkaloids which help balance an acidic ph level as well as multiple compounds that aid in suppressing inflamation and pain. I will do more research and get the exact names and benefits and put together a hub or two regarding diet and such. If there are any specific topics you would like more information on please let me know. And I will try the blueberry and let you know as soon as I do. Thank you again sweety and I am sorry to see you go but glad that you are not really going. ;)

I take a Mega DHA formula that is specifically formulated to combate depression. It's pricey at $45 a bottle, but effective. Thank you for sharing.
Marvelous hub about fish oil. I have been taking mine in gel capsules but will order the "lemon pie fish oil" from your amazon link above. Sounds yummy as well as healthy.
I feel like I have come across a gold mine in finding your hubs on health. I suffer from arthritis as well as terrible chronic pain in the top of my feet. A specialist just put me on celebrex for pain and inflammation in the feet. Nothing more can be done I am told. I would welcome any natural cure and stop the celebrex completely if I can find something to help.
I'm a big fan and eager to read any and all hubs on health. Voted up and across!
wow this is so interesting. I had no idea. I think I will order a bottle. thanks for sharing this hub and for the follow.
Debbie
Thanks for the info about the boswellia. Is it available through amazon or health stores? Are you taking it now?
I want to go off the celebrex asap, especially knowing you had problems with it. BTW - I ordered the fish oil from your link. Can't wait to try it!
I purchased the fish oil from your link and have been taking it every day. I could drink the whole bottle - it's just as you said, absolutely delicious. Placing my 2nd order tomorrow. I'll fread your hub about arthritis and order the boswelia. Thanks so much!
This is very interesting... I have often thought about starting to take some fish oil because I do not eat any fish, but somehow I can never get myself to do so. I have never heard of a fish oil that tasted like anything like lemons! I may just have to look more into this because health is very important and you may have convinced me to add fish oil into my diet! Great hub!
I take fish oil pills (when I remember) and some of them were just nasty, but they have become more improved. This hub will benefit many! UP! Awesome!
Wow, never thought fish oil is this beneficial and tasty! I will have to give this a try :)
Very informative hub and this info may well encourage someone like me to actually take fish oil. My only memories of it are my mother pouring cod liver oil down my throat when I was a toddler and I have never taken it since then. I will look out for it, thanks.
Hi, its really funny because as I was reading this, I could actually taste it! I think somewhere back in the day I must have had this or something similar, it was such a strange feeling! lol! what a great idea though, fish oil that tastes like lemon meringue! yum!
Wow, this is an amazing product! I am so glad you shared it. Right now, I eat hemp every day, which gives me the Omega's but I am glad to know there is an alternative. I will see if they sell it here in Canada. Great hub!
Thank you for sharing this SilverGenes, I give my kiddos the lemon fish oil but not this kind. This looks like it tastes great. I'll check for this locally. Voted up, useful and SHared! Take care, Kelley
This would make giving my 5 year old the fish oil SO much easier! Thank you for bringing this to my attention! Pure awesome!

I have to admit it was the photo of the lemon meringue pie that lured me to this hub. But as a health product, lemon meringue pie-flavoured fish oil sounds pretty nice too.
